First dates can be awkward, but if all goes well, they can be the most magical nights of your life.  We’ve got the perfect winter date idea for you that will break the ice, not the bank.

Grab your skates and head over to the Washington Harbour Ice Rink ($9 admission per person) in Georgetown, which is actually bigger than New York City’s Rockefeller Center!  Ice-skating gives you a chance to demonstrate your athletic prowess, and an excuse to hide under a bulky sweater just long enough for him/her to love you for your personality.

When your feet finally ache and your hair is a popsicle, lurch over to Farmers, Fishers Bakers, right next door.  Thaw out on the expansive heated patio with a great view of the rink and the harbor beyond.  Extra brownie points if you find a seat right by the fire pit.

There’s only one thing more romantic than a warm, flickering fire in wintertime, and that’s a drink with two straws.  Farmers, Fishers Bakers‘ fun, tropical Tiki Redux cocktails are throwbacks from the 70′s which remind you of your last vacation on Waponi Woo.  So
powerful, they’re limited to 2 per person.

Choose from a huge menu of Daiquiris, Swizzles, Mai Tais, Scorpions and Zombies, all served in kitschy tiki mugs, naturally.  The Zombie Punch for two ($25) is a flaming ceramic bowl filled with 3 types of rum and freshly-squeezed juices.  These tasty tikis go down smooth and will put you on your ass if ice-skating doesn’t.  That’s why we suggest skating first.

The cost for all this tag-teaming and toe-steppin’? A cool $50 with gratuity.  We give it a perfect “10.”
