To take our minds off of the cold weather (at least somewhat), we’ve decided to round-up the up-coming food events that take us into May. You know the drill – get a little dressed up, show up at the venue and walk from table to table trying different bites from DC area chefs. Happy eating!

Sips & Suppers
When: Saturday, January 25 at 7pm General Admission and 6:30pm VIP
Where: Newseum, 555 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
About: This lively cocktail reception features top artisan chefs and mixologists preparing their signature dishes and drinks.
Beneficiaries: Martha’s Table and DC Central Kitchen
Tickets: $95 General Admission and $200 for VIP, which you can purchase here.
Why you should go: Live jazz and a chance to mingle with Jose Andres, Joan Nathan and
Alice Waters.

Sugar and Champagne
When: Wednesday, February 5 at 7pm General Admission and 6pm VIP
Where: Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW
About: This celebration of all things sweet, showcases the DC area’s most talented pastry chefs. Enjoy delectable confections complemented by some of the world’s finest sparkling wines.
Beneficiary: Washington Humane Society

Why you should go: Four-legged friends are welcome, so cuteness abounds.

St. Jude’s Gourmet Gala: Mardi Gras for the Kids
When: Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 5:30pm
Where: National Building Museum, 401 F Street, NW
About: Supporting children suffering from pediatric cancer and other deadly diseases, while having the exclusive opportunity to taste some of the D.C. area’s finest restaurant cuisine while mingling with more than 750 business, financial and political leaders.
Beneficiary: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Why you should go: Two words: Mardi Gras.

When: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 8pm
Where: Corcoran Gallery of Art, 500 Seventeenth Street NW
About: Artini is a vibrant evening of art, cocktails, entertainment, and dancing. From January through March, 10 mixologists compete to create the most artistic martini. These specifically created artinis are inspired by works in the Corcoran’s collection. The city’s favorite artini, as chosen via online vote, will be revealed at the gala.
Beneficiary: NOW at the Corcoran – a contemporary art exhibition and performance series

Why you should go: The drinks. Though please be sure to eat dinner before tasting each Artini.

Taste of the Nation
When: Monday, March 31 at 7pm for General Admission and 6pm VIP
Where: National Building Museum, 401 F Street, NW
About: Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation® is the nation’s premier culinary benefit, featuring top chefs and mixologists — all of whom are coming together to donate their time, talent and passion to end childhood hunger in America.
Beneficiaries: Capital Area Food Bank, DC Hunger Solutions, Mary’s Center

Why you should go: A new “Marketplace” offering will give you the opportunity to sample and purchase products from DC artisans.

Common Threads World Festival
When: Thursday, April 24 at 6pm
Where: The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel, 415 New Jersey Ave NW
About: Common Threads is bringing World Festival back to DC after a year hiatus. More than 20 chefs from around the nation will team up to prepare ethnically inspired small bites. Chefs use Common Threads’ core after-school program, Cooking Skills & World Cuisine, as their inspiration.
Beneficiary: Common Threads

Why you should go: You’ll have the opportunity to “stamp” their culinary passport as they sample cuisines from around the world. Chefs will be teaming up with Common Threads students to create their dishes.

Heart’s Delight Grand Tasting & Auction
When: Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 6:30pm
Where: The Ritz-Carlton West End, 1150 22nd Street, NW Washington, DC
About: Reception with Celebrity Chef Stations, Wine Stations and 200 lot silent auction. Followed by a live auction of dining experiences featuring our participating chefs and exciting trips.
Beneficiary: American Heart Association
