Is chocolate ever not a good idea? Today’s “Chocolate Tub” fondue recipe comes from Pastry Chef Rebecca Clerget at Fairmont, Washington, DC, and we can’t wait to try it. Impress your significant other, win someone’s heart, or make it for yourself and toast to being single with something that looks challenging to make, but is actually easy to make at home.

Don’t feel like tackling it yourself? Head to Juniper Restaurant at Fairmont, where Chef Clerget will put this together for you. It comes with fresh strawberries, peanut butter gaufrettes, rice crispy treats, raspberry macaroons and other yummy treats made for sharing, in a mini bathtub filled with warm Valrhona chocolate. The mini rubber ducky is made of marzipan! Utensils are not provided. This dessert for 2 is offered through the month of February.

Dark Chocolate Fondue

12 oz  dark chocolate
1 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp  liquor (such as Baileys, Frangelico or rum)

Melt dark chocolate slowly in the microwave or over a double boiler, stirring frequently. Bring cream and liquor (optional) to simmer and stir slowly into melted chocolate. Serve immediately with fruits and cookies for dipping. Pair it with a glass of Merlot (or two).
