If you haven’t been to Atlas Brew Works, you’re definitely missing out. This weekend, they’re showcasing their new India Pale Lager, Home Rule. Justin Cox – CEO and founder of Atlas Brew works was kind enough to answer a few questions about the new beer to come this Saturday March 8th 2014.

Why the name “Home Rule?”

Home Rule, named after the 1973 act passed by Congress, allowed DC to self-govern in most areas by electing a Mayor and a legislative Council.

What type of beer is it?

India Pale Lager, made exclusively with Waimea hops from New Zealand.

What inspired you to create it?

We wanted to release a new beer that would work well as the weather changes from this nasty winter into spring and summer. The aroma of Waimea hops are very tropical friuty/tangelo/blood orange, we think that nose will be nice and refreshing when balanced against a pale malt body of pilsner malt.

How will you promote it?

We will have a release party for Home Rule. We have a special license to sell pints, so we’ll be open from 1-6pm with $5 for a pint or a flight of our three beers. DC Sliders food truck will be here slanging delicious burgers. We’ll do tours just a as we normally do along with growler sales. We are releasing the beer out in the market at Boundary Road on H Street on Thursday evening and then at the brewery on Saturday with this event.
