TapIt is a water bottle refilling network that has successfully signed up participating cities like New York, Boston, Portland, and now Washington, D.C.  It’s not a gimmick, there’s no catch and it’s free for everyone!

Here’s how it works: You bring in a reusable bottle.  The TapIt participating shop refills it from the tap, regardless of purchase.  You smile gratefully and leave.  That’s it!
