You’ll craft your voice, learn key interview techniques, find out the secrets of writing a great query letter, and discover how to tailor your articles to a variety of publications and mediums.

Walk away with the ability to start a food blog, and write for traditional publications, as well as the know–how to approach literary agents and publishers with book ideas.

This beginners level class meets every Tuesday from 7:30–9:30 p.m. for six weeks from March 6 – April 10, 2012. The class is $270, and Writer’s Center members receive a discount!

Grapes have had it rough. They’ve been imitated by the worst cough syrup flavor, squished by dirty feet, and associated with the title of a depressing novel. Thankfully, Zaytinya and head chef Michael Costa are offering a unique grape-inspired menu from November 14-27, 2011 that will erase those bad memories and give this versatile fruit the good reputation it deserves.

The Penn Quarter restaurant will incorporate several key ingredients and innovative cooking methods into its modern interpretation of classic Mediterranean cuisine to create seven “Grape Festival” dishes. Whether it’s stuffed in grape leaves or smoked over grapevine trimmings, each menu item is a delicious homage to the fruit. To satisfy the lush in everyone, a new selection of Greek wines will be available, of which guests are welcome to a complimentary tasting on November 14th and 21st from 5-7 pm. Or head to the bar for a special Turkish grape cocktail aptly named after the Greco-Roman wine god Bacchus and his crazy occult parties. So don’t be afraid to let loose, order a few rounds, and take a sip every time you hear or see the word “grape”; Bacchus will be watching.

Cheese-lovers will swoon over the roka salata, a refreshing arugula-based salad topped with grapes and a creamy, house-made sheep’s milk cheese, while carnivores should try the grilled lamb chops Agourides, bathed in a white wine reduction and accompanied by roasted grapes and mushrooms. For a more comprehensive taste of the menu and wine selections, a 5-course dinner will be offered on November 22nd for $85/person.
